Why Students Choose LSSU?
Our BSN program at LSSU offers a challenging and rewarding program of study that reflects the standards of professional nursing. This program will prepare you to make judgments and carry out nursing care based on critical thinking and research based knowledge to facilitate disease prevention, health promotion, health maintenance, health restoration and rehabilitation.
Our BSN program is unique in its international affiliation. Clinical nursing experience is obtained primarily at hospitals and community agencies in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario as well as at health care and community agencies in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and the surrounding area.
The Bachelor of Science nursing program is approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
We can attest to a highly successful NCLEX-RN pass rate for our students after completion of the program.
The School of Nursing offers a nursing program designed to meet the needs of students for a broad general education essential to the professional nursing role. Faculty members come here with the primary goal to teach and we focus on the student 100% of the time. They are not required to conduct research and publish as a condition of employment. Our nursing professors and instructors have extensive real world work experience which they share with students every day.
Nursing students engage in a simulated environment at LSSU’s state-of-the-art simulation center. This new teaching modality has brought about an incredible transformation in nursing education at LSSU, and it is not only students who are benefiting from the simulation center – community nurses, emergency response personnel, and others in the healthcare field are also learning and reinforcing their skills in the facility, especially now that they are able to practice on tele-health equipment that is extremely valuable in this region.
